This article describes how to connect a laptop to a Ready Set STEM CREATOR Kit using an a isolated network, which requires adding a wireless router as the hub that connected the devices together.

The Ready Set STEM Development Environment (RDE) runs in the Chrome browser. If the Ready Set STEM CREATOR Kit is connected to a network and a laptop is connected to the same network, the laptop can connect to the Ready Set STEM CREATOR Kit and use the RDE. Both the Ready Set STEM CREATOR Kit and the laptop can be connected to the network via wired or wireless Ethernet.
An isolated network requires:
- One or more laptops with wired or wireless Ethernet and with the Chrome browser installed
- An Ethernet cable for each wired connection
- One or more Ready Set STEM CREATOR Kits with wired or wireless Ethernet (wireless requires a USB wireless adapter)
- A wireless router (labeled ‘A’ in the diagram below)
An isolated network layout:
In this case, each of the laptops and Ready Set STEM CREATOR Kits are connected to the wireless router via wired or wireless Ethernet. Optionally, the router can be bridged to an existing wireless network router (labeled ‘B’ in the diagram above), if available, to connect the devices to the Internet.
